FRANKLIN – After a long line of cancelations this spring, the Franklin women's tennis team hit the court for their first match of 2023 on Friday (Apr. 14) afternoon, taking on Concordia Ann Arbor.
Franklin came back to win the match 6-3, picking up wins in five of the six singles matches on the afternoon.
The lone win in doubles play came with junior
Samantha Schick and freshman Lauryn Bates teaming up to win 8-2 at No. 3 doubles. Concordia took the win at No. 1 singles but the rest of one-on-one play was all Franklin.
Sydney Carson won 7-6, 6-1 at No. 2 singles,
Kinley Harmon was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at No. 3 singles,
Brenna Atchison was a 6-0, 6-0 winner from the fourth spot, Schick won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and Bates was a 6-4, 6-2 winner to round out the Franklin lineup.
The Grizzlies are not scheduled to play another match after Sunday's scheduled meeting with Kentucky Wesleyan was called off. The Griz are 5-7 on the year. For any schedule updates, stay tuned to franklingrizzlies.com.
