COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Franklin men's tennis team closed out their fall schedule on Friday (Oct. 6) afternoon, taking on the Capital Comets.
The Grizzlies closed out the first part of their schedule with their second straight win, besting the Comets by an 8-1 score.
Franklin started off the afternoon by taking all three doubles matchups.
Shay Kyser and
Owen Pickerill earned the first point with an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles with
Dustin Garrison and
Layton Stieneker earning the second point with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
Lucas Densford and
Ezra Schwier closed out team play with an 8-6 victory from the second spot in the lineup.
Nathan Jarboe was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 1 singles, followed by Pickerill winning 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles,
Marcus Cox taking a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 single and Stieneker winning 6-2. 6-4 at the sixth spot. Garrison needed a tie-breaker set to win at No. 2 singles, securing a 6-2, 5-7, 7-0 win to finish out the match.
Franklin will take a 4-2 record into the spring season with a 1-1 record in conference play. The spring schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
