TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Franklin women's swimming and diving team hit the road for the final time in the regular season on Friday (Jan. 20) night, taking on conference rivals Rose-Hulman and Hanover.
The Grizzlies are bringing home two wins thanks to a pair of dominant performances, beating Rose 193-98 and Hanover 216-29. The Griz collected 14 event wins on the night to move to 8-2 in dual meets this year.
Both Franklin relays were victorious on the night.
Kamryn Elder, Becky Pfeifer,
Samantha Phillips and
Kennedy Minter opened the evening with a win in the 200 medley relay in 1:58.37. Elder,
Regan Hendricks,
Grace Williams and
Caileigh McCafferty closed out the night by winning the 200 free relay in 1:48.09.
Phillips and McCafferty each claimed three solo races on the night to tie for tops among all swimmers. Phillips won the 200 free, 200 butterfly and 500 free while McCafferty claimed the top spot in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 100 butterfly.
Junior
Kennedy Minter swept the 50 free and 100 free while sophomore
Erin Perkins won the 1000 free to give Franklin a sweep on the night's freestyle events. Pfeifer claimed first place in the 200 breaststroke to round out the list of swimming winners.
On the diving boards, Franklin took the top three spots in both events. Senior
Faith Jackson won on the one-meter board with 240.00 points, followed by
Carley Bond in second and
Kaleigh Schuler in third. The three-meter board saw Bond edge out Jackson for the top spot with 249.75 points, with Schuler rounding out the top-three.
Franklin closes out the regular season next Saturday (Jan. 28) when they host Illinois Wesleyan on Senior Day at Franklin Middle School. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m.
