RECAP | Women's Swimming & Diving Splits Weekend Duals with Wittenberg & DePauw

FRANKLIN – The Franklin women's swimming and diving team picked up two dual wins in less than 24 hours, besting Wittenberg in a Friday (Jan. 13) night road dual and DePauw on Saturday afternoon at home.
 
The Grizzlies opened the weekend by cruising to a 144-28 win at Wittenberg. Saturday's matchup would prove tougher, as DePauw came to town and left with a 173-121 win.
 
FRANKLIN VS. WITTENBERG
Franklin was victorious in all 11 events in the pool with three swimmers winning multiple individual events. Senior Becky Pfeifer was the first to do after winning the 1000 freestyle in 11:27.77 and the 200 IM in 2:24.55. Fellow senior Caileigh McCafferty won the 100 butterfly (1:02.24) and the 200 free (2:00.95) and junior Samantha Phillips was a winner in the 50 free (26.25) and 100 free (56.95).
 
Other event winners included junior Regan Hendricks in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.82), sophomore Erin Perkins in the 500 free (5:36.80) and freshman Jyllian Antle in the 100 backstroke (1:06.20).
 
Both Franklin relay teams were also winners, starting with Antle, Pfeifer, Perkins and Grace Williams taking the 200 medley relay in 2:01.99. Hendricks, Phillips, McCafferty and Kennedy Minter closed the night by winning the 200 free relay in 1:47.43.
 
FRANKLIN VS. DEPAUW
Phillips continued her dominant weekend by winning the 200 free (1:59.58), the 200 butterfly (2:15.84) and the 500 free (5:21.95) and was the team's lone winner of three events on the day. McCafferty won the 200 IM in 2:13.97 and took second in the 100 backstroke (1:01.88). Minter was the Grizzlies' other winner in the pool after taking the 100 butterfly in 1:03.02.
 
On the diving boards, Franklin claimed the three scoring spots in both events. Faith Jackson won on both the one-meter (283.63) and three-meter (300.97) boards while Carley Bond and Kaleigh Schuler took second and third in each event.
 
The Grizzlies are on the road for the final time in the regular season next Friday (Jan. 20) night, heading to Terre Haute, Ind. for a tri-meet with Rose-Hulman and Hanover. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
