WHEATON, Ill. – The Franklin men's swimming and diving team took part in their first dual competition of the season on Saturday (Nov. 5) afternoon, taking on the Wheaton Thunder.
A total of 1 events wasn't enough to decide a winner, as both teams won eight events and the teams wrapped up the day tied at 147.
Senior diver
Gauge Creech officially punched his ticket to the diving regional, winning both events and hitting qualifying numbers on both board for the second time this year. Creech racked up 265.80 points on the one-meter board and put up 297.45 on the three-meter board. Teammate
Cameron Baker finished second on both boards with 203.90 on the one-meter and 161.50 on the three-meter.
In the pool, junior
Jack Burke claimed both of the backstroke events by claiming first in the 100 back (53.18) and the 200 back (1:56.79). Burke would add a runner-up finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:01.22.
Sophomore
Campbell Coyle had three strong showings in freestyle events, winning the 100 free (48.30) and 200 free (1:47.69) and adding a runner-up finish in the 500 free in 5:01.45. Junior
Kosmo Wojack was also a dual event winner, claiming the 100 butterfly in 51.88 and the 200 butterfly in 2:00.49. Senior
Vincent Fletcher claimed second in the 50 free (22.54) and freshman Tyler Wood claimed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.30).
The Grizzlies continue dual competition on Friday (Nov. 11) night, when they host the Transylvania Pioneers at Franklin Middle School. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
