FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin women's tennis team wrapped up their fall regular season on Saturday (Oct. 8) morning, taking on the Earlham Quakers.
The Grizzlies (3-6, 2-4 HCAC) made short work of the Quakers (0-7, 0-6 HCAC) and closed out the regular season with an 8-1 victory.
Teaming up for the first time this fall, sophomore
Sydney Carson and freshman
Emma Back claimed an 8-0 win from the No. 1 doubles spot.
Kinley Harmon and
Brenna Atchison followed suit with an 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. The Grizzlies claimed the final doubles matchup by default.
Singles play saw
Maecee Terhune win 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 2 position.
Bethany Burton followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the three spot in the lineup and
Samantha Schick was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 4 singles play. The Grizzlies claimed points in the fifth and sixth spots in the singles lineup by default.
Franklin will turn their attention to the post-season, which is set to begin on Wednesday, Oct. 12. The fifth-seeded Grizzlies will meet fourth-seeded Hanover, with a start time to be determined in the coming days.
