BEREA, Ky. – The Franklin volleyball team made it three straight wins on Tuesday (Sept. 10) night, rolling to a straight-set win over Berea College in their first of seven straight matches away from home.
Franklin moves to 6-3 on the year with the win, picking up their fourth win of the year in three sets. The loss drops Berea to 2-5 on the young season.
The Grizzlies controlled the opening set from the jump, surging out to an 8-2 lead early on. The Mountaineers clawed back to within three later in the set, but Franklin was able to slam the door shut on a comeback bid with a 25-18 game one win.
Game two saw roles reversed, with the Mountaineers jumping out to an 8-2 lead, forcing the Grizzlies to battle from behind. The Grizzlies eventually drew even at 18 before closing out the game with a 7-2 run to earn a 25-20 win and earn a two-set lead.
For the third straight set, one team opened up an 8-2 lead to start only with Franklin assuming the large early lead. The Grizzlies kept their foot on the gas, closing out the match with a 25-12 third set victory.
Franklin takes their winning streak to Hanover, Ind. this weekend for the Hanover Invitational on Sept. 13-14. The Grizzlies open the weekend with a showdown against Adrian College on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
