Volleyball Playing at Rose-Hulman Invitational This Weekend

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College volleyball will play in its second straight weekend tournament, traveling to Terre Haute, Indiana for four matches in Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's Invitational on September 12-13.

The Grizzlies begin the two-day event against Muskingum University (Ohio) on Saturday, September 12, at 3 p.m. The team also faces Capital University (Ohio) on Saturday at 5 p.m.

On Sunday, Franklin will play Ohio Wesleyan University at 11 a.m. and Millikin University (Illinois) at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The team is coming off of a 3-1 win over Spalding University on Wednesday. The team is now 2-4 on the season after facing three nationally and regionally ranked teams to start the season. Last weekend, Franklin played at the Colorado College Tournament in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Senior Kourtney Settle (Vallonia, Ind./Brownstown Central) led Franklin's offensive attack during Wednesday's match with 13 kills and four blocks. For the season, she leads the team with 65 kills and 20 blocks, while having a team-best .329 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Amanda Lelivelt (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Riverside Brookfield) recorded two solo blocks in Wednesday's match. She has had 12 blocks in the team's first six matches this fall.

Sophomore Lauren Harmon (Greenfield, Ind./Eastern Hancock) rounds out the balanced offensive attack, tallying six kills in the win at Spalding.

Junior setter Ashley Bazier (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South) leads the team with 189 assists on the season. She has also recorded 57 digs to assist the team's strong defense.

Also on the defensive side, senior Mackenzie Wieneke (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) leads the team with 121 digs this season. She recorded 30 digs and one serving ace during Wednesday's win.

Classmate Theresa Brown (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) leads the team with five serving aces in six matches. Brown has recorded 55 digs and four assists.

The Grizzlies will have their first home match on Tuesday, September 15, against Wilmington College (Ohio) on Faculty & Staff Night in the Spurlock Center, starting at 7 p.m. The rest of the team's fall schedule can be found HERE.
