Women’s Track Team Places 6th At Championships

GREENCASTLE, Ind. (April 15, 2017) The Franklin College Women's Track and Field team placed sixth at Saturday's Indiana Division III Championships at DePauw University. The meet was highlighted by strong field event performances by the Grizzlies.

Freshman Sarah Miller won the javelin throw with a season PR of 31.84 meters. Miller also ran a season-best in the 100-meter dash, placing sixth with a time of 13.00 seconds.

Sophomore Kelsey Bowling scored the most points for the Grizzlies. She was fourth in triple jump (10.21 meters), fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.41 meters) and second in the long jump with a PR of 5.31 meters.

Freshman Amanda McKinney placed seventh in Discus with a throw of 28.42 meters.

Hanover won the team championship with a score of 153, followed by Manchester (148), Rose-Hulman (131), Trine (110), DePauw (107) and Franklin (41).

The Grizzles next meet will be at the Rose-Hulman Twilight meet April 21. The meet will start at 4:30 p.m.
