FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin women's tennis team opened their season on Saturday (Sept. 7) afternoon, taking on Indiana-South Bend at Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex.

Facing stiff competition, the Grizzlies (0-1) dropped a 7-2 decision to the Titans to open the year. IU South Bend captured two points in doubles play, but the Grizzlies were able to salvage one point thanks to an 8-4 win from Emma Foley and Addie Rund at the No. 3 doubles spot.

Rund capped her day by taking her first career singles win as well, besting Morgan Rockhill 5-7, 6-0, 11-9 in a meeting of the two No. 6 singles players. But the other five singles matches all went the way of the Titans.

Franklin is back in action in a week, when they host Mount St. Joseph for their 2019 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) opener. First serve from Mickell-Hoover is set for 1:00 p.m.
