RECAP | Women's Tennis Drops First Match of the Fall, Falling to Hanover

HANOVER, Ind. – The Franklin College women's tennis team faced their stiffest test of the fall on Wednesday (Oct. 3) afternoon, taking on Hanover in a rematch of last year's conference championship match.

The Grizzlies (5-1, 4-1 HCAC) couldn't snap the Panthers' (6-0, 5-0 HCAC) 45-match conference winning streak, dropping a 7-1 decision.

Franklin got their lone point of the night in doubles play, with their No. 1 team of Karen Dringenburg and Maddie Bright claiming an 8-4 win over Meghan Farrell and Susie Winternheimer. With the win, the duo stayed perfect this fall, moving to 5-0 as a tandem.

But the Panthers would claim 8-5 and 8-2 wins at the other two doubles spots to head into singles play in front. All five singles matches that completed went to Hanover in straight sets.

Franklin returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 7) morning, traveling to Terre Haute, Ind. for another HCAC match against Rose-Hulman. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
