INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the fourth time in as many weeks, Franklin College divers Will Combs and Lexi Blackburn swept the weekly Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Diver of the Week Awards when the league announced winners on Tuesday (Nov. 13) morning.
Both divers were once again victorious on the boards last weekend, helping Franklin to a pair of dual wins over Centre and Manchester last Saturday (Nov. 10).
Blackburn collected her seventh career league diver of the week award with a winning performance that saw her qualify for the NCAA Diving Regionals. The Clayton, Ind.-native finished with a combined score of 453.45 points on the one-meter board, punching her ticket to the regionals for a second straight year. Her two wins on Saturday helped Franklin move to a perfect 7-0 in dual competitions this year.
Combs became a four-time diver of the week after finishing first in both diving events and recording a combined score of 439.05 to help the Grizzlies move to 6-0 in dual competitions this year. Combs has yet to finish lower than first on the boards this year, and recorded his first two NCAA qualification scores over the weekend.
Both divers are back in action on Saturday afternoon, when they welcome Transylvania, Thomas More and Hanover to Franklin High School. Start time for the event is set for 2:00 p.m.
