CARMEL, Ind. – Four members of the Franklin women's soccer team were named to one of three all-conference teams when the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced its post-season award recipients on Tuesday (Nov. 12).
Seniors Lexi Short and Jalynn Gorman earned spots on the league's first team while fellow senior Taylor McDaniel was named to the league's second team. Sophomore Madison Short joined the senior trio, picking up Honorable Mention status.
Picking up her third First Team All-HCAC nod as goalkeeper and fourth all-conference accolade overall, Lexi Short closed out her decorated four-year career with another strong campaign between the pipes. The Avon, Ind.-native started 19 matches, finishing with a 1.51 goals against average, an .807 save percentage and seven clean sheets. Twice, she was named the HCAC's Defensive Player of the Week and she finished with at least seven saves in a game on nine occasions.
Gorman collected her first all-conference honor after finishing with four goals and an assist across 18 matches. The Clayton, Ind.-native led the Grizzlies with 38 shot attempts and 20 shots on goal, chipping in with a pair of game-winners.
McDaniel also became a four-time all-conference recipient after finishing second on the Grizzlies in scoring with 10 points (2G, 6A). The Indianapolis, Ind.-native finished the year with 35 shot attempts, 14 shots on goal and one game-winning tally while recording a point across five straight games late in the season.
Madison Short earned her first career all-conference award after starting all 20 matches for the Grizzlies at center back. Through two years with the program, the Avon, Ind.-native has yet to miss a start.
