FRANKLIN, Ind. – For the third consecutive year, Franklin College forward Maddie Fleet has been recognized for her work on the field and in the classroom with another Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 selection.
The Indianapolis, Ind.-native becomes the first player in program history to be named Academic All-District three times and has the chance to become the school's first three-time Academic All-America® selection. An accounting major with a 3.91 grade point average, Fleet was named First Team Academic All-America® a year ago and Second Team Academic All-America® in 2016.
Already a four-time HCAC Offensive Player of the Year, Fleet was sensational for the Grizzlies in 2018. The Indianapolis, Ind.-native scored 22 goals and added four assists for 48 points, netting five of the team's eight game-winning goals. The senior forward finished her career as the program's all-time leader in goals (96), assists (34), points (226) and game-winning tallies (22).
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
