INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Following a dominant performance on the pitch last Saturday, Franklin senior forward Maddie Fleet collected Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Offensive Player of the Week honors on Tuesday afternoon.
The Indianapolis, Ind.-native had a career night against Defiance on Saturday (Sept. 29), potting five goals and adding an assist for an 11-point evening. It marks the second time in her career she has reached the 11-point mark and the first time she netted five or more goals in a single contest. The last time she racked up 11 points was back on Sept. 7, 2016, with four goals and three assists in a 10-0 win over St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
She becomes the second women's soccer player to earn the weekly conference award in 2018, joining junior Jalynn Gorman. It also marks the second time a Franklin student-athlete with the same surname earned a weekly conference award in as many days, as Maddie joins senior wide receiver and twin brother Ben as HCAC Offensive Player of the Week in their respective sports.
Maddie and the Grizzlies host rival Hanover College on Wednesday (Oct. 3) night at 7:30 p.m. at Faught Stadium in Franklin.
