RECAP | Fleet Finishes with 10 Points as Grizzlies Rout Beavers

Final: Franklin 7 | Bluffton 0
Records: Franklin 7-3 (3-0 HCAC) | Bluffton 2-9 (1-2 HCAC)
Location: Faught Stadium | Franklin, Ind.

FRANKLIN – Neither rain, wind or the Bluffton Beavers could slow down Franklin junior forward Maddie Fleet on Saturday night.

The Grizzlies' leading goal scorer netted four goals and added a pair of assists on Saturday night, serving as the driving force behind Franklin's 7-0 win over Bluffton. For Fleet, it was her fourth career four-goal game and her second career 10-plus point effort. She finished one point shy of her career high of 11 points, set on Sept. 7, 2016.

Hannah McIntosh, Clare Lenart and Jalynn Gorman also found the back of the net on Saturday night while Taylor McDaniel handed out a pair of assists for the second time this year.  The win was the sixth straight for the Grizzlies, keeping them atop the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) with the win.

A downpour began right at the start of the match, but that didn't slow the Grizzlies' offense down. Franklin scored less than eight minutes into the game when McIntosh re-directed a Fleet crossing pass into the bottom right hand corner of the net for the opening tally of the game. Lenart doubled the lead in the 25th minute, taking a Fleet pass and firing a laser into the upper corner for her sixth goal of the year.

After handing out assists on the first two goals, Fleet turned her attention to tickling the twine herself. Less than four minutes after Lenart's goal, Fleet made it 3-0 after hammering home a rebound on a Gorman shot. Fleet wasn't done, adding another goal late in the first half to make it 4-0 Grizzlies at the break.

Fleet added goals in the 68th and 86th minutes and Gorman netted her second goal in as many games in the final minute to close out the scoring.

The Grizzlies dominated possession all night long, finishing with a 22-3 advantage in shot attempts and a 17-3 edge in shots on goal. Fleet finished with six shot attempts to lead all players with Gorman's five attempts right behind on the team leaderboard.

In goal, Lexi Short turned aside all three shots she faced in the second half. Short turned the cage over to Jackie List in the 83rd minute, and the two combined for the Grizzlies' fifth clean sheet of the year.

Franklin aims to keep their winning streak going this coming Wednesday (Oct. 11) night, when they host Manchester at Faught Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
