Women’s Soccer Loses High-Scoring Match to RIT

Dallas, Pa. - The Franklin College women's soccer team suffered its second consecutive loss at the Misericordia Invitational, dropping a 4-2 contest to Rochester Institute of Technology on Sunday.

RIT (2-1-1) scored three first-half goals and added a penalty kick tally in the second half. Franklin (3-2) grabbed an early lead on a goal from sophomore Maddie Fleet in the third minute of the match. RIT found the back of the net in the 30th and 31st minutes to take a 2-1 advantage. The team took a 3-1 lead on a goal in the final two minutes of the first half.

RIT converted a penalty kick in the 60th minute to increase the margin to three goals, 4-1.

The Grizzlies attempted a late rally when junior Kelsey Brunsman scored off a corner kick from junior Jillian Lawrence in the 73rd minute.

Junior Clare Lenart and Fleet each recorded three shots, while Brusman added two shots in the match.

Franklin returns to action on Wednesday, September 14 at 7 p.m. when it travels to DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.
