LIBERTY, Ind. – Junior Megg Hensler claimed her second top-10 finish in as many weeks, earning a share of third place for the Franklin women's golf team at the Earlham College Fall Invite this weekend.
Hensler recorded a career-best round in the opening 18 holes and recorded a 36 hole best score of 159 (77-82), finishing three shots behind the top spot. The Madison, Ind.-native led all players at the event with four birdies, and she shot even par on par fives at the Liberty Country Club, finishing second overall in par five scoring.
Junior Gabi Sharp earned her second straight top-10 finish, carding a 168 (83-85) to earn a share of eighth place. Playing in her second career event, the Avon, Ind.-native also set a new personal-best round with her day one 83.
Sophomore Maci French finished just outside the top-10, shooting a 174 (85-89) to finish 13th overall. Rounding out the Grizzlies' top five were freshman Mara Wilson (99-90) and Jaley Schlosser (97-92), who finished tied for 19th overall with identical scores of 189.
A quartet of Grizzlies competed as individuals at the end. Junior Mackenzie Black was tops among the four, finishing 23rd overall with a 194 (97-97). Sophomore Taylor Dixon (103-98-201) finished 24th, sophomore Regina Olsen (108-105-213) shared 26th place and sophomore Kitley Kern (120-123-243) finished 29th.
Indiana University East took first place overall with a team score of 647 (319-328). Franklin finished fourth overall against the field, carding a 688 (342-346) for the weekend.
The Grizzlies continue their fall slate next Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 14-15), heading to Normal, Ill. and Ironwood Golf Course for the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational.
