RECAP | Townsend Earns Share of First Place, Grizzlies Take Second at Spring Home Event

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College women's golf team hosted their annual spring event over the weekend, welcoming eight other teams to The Legends GC for the Franklin College Spring Invite on Apr. 21-22.

The Grizzlies put together a strong two-day effort, leading after round one before finishing second with a score of 689 (330-359).

The star for the Grizzlies over the weekend was junior Keely Townsend. The Muncie, Ind.-native fired the low round of the tournament on day one, earning a share of first place with a 160 (73-87). Townsend would head to a one-hole playoff for medalist honors, ultimately conceding the top spot to Transylvania's Rachel Fine.

Fellow junior Hannah Sharkey improved by two shots on her scorecard on day two, jumping nine spots overall and earning a share of 13th place with a 174 (88-86). Sitting in second place after day one, freshman Megg Hensler finished in a tie for 15th place with a 175 (80-95).

Senior Hannah White took 28th place with a 182 (90-92) with freshman Jaley Schlosser one shot back in 29th place with a 193 (89-94). Freshman Mackenzie Black rounded out the Franklin lineup with a 51st place finish and a 222 (113-109).

The Grizzlies wrap up their 2017-18 campaign on Apr. 28-29, traveling to Harrison, Ohio for the Miami Whitewater Classic, hosted by Mount St. Joseph University at Miami Whitewater Forest Golf Club.
