NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Franklin College women's golf team reached the midway point of their fall season this weekend, traveling to the Keene Trace Golf Club for the 2017 HCAC Preview, hosted by Transylvania University.
The Grizzlies improved their day two score by 14 strokes, finishing in 11th place with a team total of 762 (388-374). Topping the Franklin leaderboard was Freshman and Evansville, Ind.-native Jaley Schlosser, who finished with a 179 (91-88) that earned her a share of 44th place.
Fellow freshman Megg Hensler carded the lowest Franklin round of the weekend on day one. The Madison, Ind.-native finished tied for 53rd overall with a 186 (87-99). Hannah White brought home a share of 62nd place with a 192 (102-90), Mary Tingle finished in 71st place with a 205 (108-97) and Mackenzie Black rounded out the lineup with a 222 (108-114) and a 74th place finish.
Three other Grizzlies competed as individuals at the event. Hannah Sharkey earned a 59th place finish with a 189 (94-95), Madyson Elmore's 198 (104-94) was good for 68th and Lainie Grubbs finished in 78th with a 236 (130-108).
Texas University at Dallas ran away with the team championship, besting second place Centre College by 14 shots with a 628 (314-314). Centre's Allison Miller earned individual honors with a 148 (74-74), picking up a one-shot win.
Franklin won't have far to travel for their next event, which happens to be their lone home competition of the year in the Franklin Fall Invitational. The one-day event takes place at The Legends Golf Course in Franklin on Saturday, Sept. 30.
