Women’s Golf Places Sixth at Transylvania Intercollegiate


Lexington, Ky. - The Franklin College women's golf team recorded a sixth-place finish during the 36-hole Transylvania Intercollegiate over the weekend at Keene Trace Golf Club.

The Grizzlies tallied a 742 team score, highlighted by a 363 performance during Saturday's opening round.

Junior Hannah White led Franklin with an eighth-place finish with a 167 composite score. She carded an 80-stroke score on Saturday and followed with an 87-stroke score in the final round.

Freshman Elaina Smith tied for 19th place individually with a 179 score, highlighted by an 87-stroke score on Sunday.

Sophomore Hannah Sharkey placed 27th with a 184 score over the two-day event.

Transylvania's Kenne Trace Golf Club will serve as the host for the 2017 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships and the Grizzlies sent a team of underclassmen to become more familiar with the course layout.

Franklin hosts its fall invitational at The Legends Golf Club on Saturday, October 1 at 9:30 a.m.
