TERRE HAUTE, IND (February 24, 2017) – Franklin College women's basketball fell 57-41 to Rose-Hulman in the semi-final game of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament.
Friday night was a defensive battle between the Grizzlies and the Engineers with each team being held to nearly 30% shooting from the field. Rose-Hulman edged Franklin on the boards with 48 compared to Franklin's 32.
The game ended the first quarter tied at 13 points apiece, but the Engineers pulled away to gain a 10 point lead at the break. Rose-Hulman held the lead heading into the fourth before pulling away with the victory to earn a berth to the HCAC championship game tomorrow night.
Kelsey Smith led the way for the Grizzlies with 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals on the night. Senior Emily Alfrey ended her career recording 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. Mandy Fisher also finished her career contributing 6 points and 2 steals for the Grizzlies.
The Engineers were led by Alyzia Dilworth who tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds. Ally Bromenschenkel followed with 10 points and 5 points for Rose-Hulman.
