FRANKLIN, Ind. (December 26, 2016)- The Franklin College women's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when the welcome in Trine University.
Franklin returns back to the court after a more than two week hiatus from game action. Their last game was on December 10, a victory over Earlham College. The following originally scheduled game at Bluffton University was postponed due to inclement weather.
The Grizzlies come into their final non-conference match-up with a 4-4 season record and 2-1 mark in HCAC play.. The team is lead by senior guard Lauren DeSutter, who is averaging 8 points per game. Senior forward Sarah Taylor follows closely, averaging 7.4 ppg. Taylor is also second on the team with 3.9 rebounds per game. Senior forward Emily Alfrey leads the category with 4.3 rpg.
Trine, a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, comes into the game with an 8-1 season record and a perfect 3-0 mark in MIAA play. The Thunder are led by junior forward Hayley Martin who comes in averaging 17.6 ppg, good for first in the MIAA. Sophomore guard Brandi Dawson is ranked fifth in the MIAA in scoring at 14.7 ppg. Martin and Dawson rank second and third in the MIAA in field goal percentage, respectively.
Franklin looks to get their overall record to the plus side in the win colmumn. To do so, they will have to cool off a Thunder team currently riding a seven game winning streak. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00 PM from the Spurlock Center.
