Greencastle, In. – Franklin College women's basketball was defeated by DePauw University 84-58 on Tuesday night inside Neal Fieldhouse.
The Grizzlies lose second straight game on the road to bring them to a record of 1-3 to start the 2016-17 season. Franklin struggled offensively finishing with a 28.8 shooting percentage on the night making 19-66 from the field. Kayle Comer led the way for the Grizzlies with 14 total points and went 4-6 from behind the arc. Taylor Baxter also tallied 11 points, while Melissa Beer contributed a team high 6 rebounds.
Franklin and DePauw each ended the game with 14 turnovers. The Tigers converted 24 points off of the Grizzlies turnovers, while Franklin only converted DePauw's turnovers into 7 points. DePauw also dominated the boards by outrebounding Franklin 34-19 defensively.
DePauw University shot 50.9% on the game recording 84 total points, 36 of those coming from inside the paint. Three starters from DePauw finished the night scoring in double figures. Sydney Kopp finished with an impressive 29 points, shooting 90% from the field and going 5-5 from behind the arc. Taylor Howard and Maya Howard also added 18 and 14 points for the Tigers.
The Grizzlies will take a few days off before they return to the court Sunday afternoon inside the Spurlock Center at 3:00 pm vs. Olivet College.
