CARMEL, Ind. – Franklin College juniors Brynna Sentel and Charlie Hall collected their first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Swimmer of the Week awards of 2019-20 when the league handed out the weekly honor on Tuesday (Oct. 29) afternoon.
Both swimmers racked up a pair of individual wins last Friday night against Illinois College, helping their respective teams to victory in the first dual of the 2019-20 campaign.
Sullivan, Ill.-native Sentel claims the weekly honor for the fifth time in her career, winning the 100 freestyle in 55.72 ahead of picking up a dominant win in her specialty, the 500 freestyle. Sentel's time of 5:12.72 was nearly 43 seconds better than the next closest competitor and is the 12th-fastest time in Division III in the early portion of the season.
Owensboro, Ky.-native Hall earned his first career swimmer of the week award on Tuesday afternoon. In his first event of the day, he wrapped up a win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.70, winning by more than six seconds. Later on, Hall captured victory in the 100 freestyle, winning with a time of 51.19 to edge out teammate Kameron Case for first place.
Both competitors will be back in the pool on Friday, Nov. 8, when they travel to North Manchester, Ind. to take on Manchester and Bethel College in dual competition. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
