Softball Team Splits Games On First Day In Florida

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 9, 2017) –The Franklin College softball team went 1-1 Thursday afternoon on Day 1 of its four-day, eight-game trip to the Citrus Games in Kissimmee, Fla.

Franklin took the first game, 6-1, against Saint Joseph's (Me.). Pitcher Olivia Paszek scattered five hits and struck out six to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Offensively, the Grizzlies combined for 12 hits. Right fielder Megan Lalioff, center fielder Shelby Mager, shortstop Monica Collins and catcher Taylor Johnson all had two hits. Second baseman Baylea Lyons, designated player Alexis Tarver and Lalioff, Collins and Johnson all contributed an RBI.

In the second game, WPI defeated Franklin 10-2 in five innings. Lalioff and Lyons collected the Grizzlies' only two hits.

Franklin (5-1) returns to action at 11 a.m. Friday against St. John Fishers, followed by a 3:30 p.m. rematch against Saint Joseph's (Me.).
