Georard Mitchell is in his first season serving as an assistant coach for the cross country and track and field teams at his alma mater. The 2013 graduate of Franklin College was a two-time NCAA Division III national championship qualifier in the long jump.
Mitchell earned Franklin’s Track and Field Men’s Most Valuable Player honors following each season. He was the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year in 2010 and the conference’s Field Athlete of the Year in 2011.
Mitchell received the Wil B. Nelp Outstanding Student Athlete Award as the top senior male athlete in 2013. He holds various indoor and outdoor sprint, jump and relay school records.
He graduated from Franklin with degrees in Psychology and Sociology. Mitchell came to Franklin from Thomas Carr Howe High School in Indianapolis in 2009.
