CARMEL, Ind. – After racking up his first career win and setting a new personal best time along the way, Franklin senior student-athlete Clayton Brumfield was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's (HCAC) men's cross country Runner of the Week on Monday (Sept. 9) afternoon.

The Greenfield, Ind.-native bested the field at the Hanover Invitational last Saturday, recording a new personal record time in the 6K race at 20:03.7. That was good for the best time by a wide margin, as he won the race by more than 19 seconds.

It is the second time in his career that Brumfield has been named the HCAC's Runner of the Week. Last year on Oct. 16, he collected the award for the first time following a career-best showing in an 8K race.

Brumfield and the rest of the Grizzly runners will be back in action on Sept. 21, when they head to Terre Haute, Ind. for the McNichols Invite. Start time is set for 9:00 a.m.
