Brumfield's Sixth-Place Finish Highlights Grizzly Invite

Shelbyville, Ind. - Franklin College freshman Clayton Brumfield recorded a sixth-place finish in leading the men's cross country team during the 2016 Sodexo Grizzly Invitational on Saturday from Blue River Memorial Park.

Brumfield covered the 8-kilometer course in 27:48 as the Grizzlies finished in fourth place in the team standings with 93 points. Hanover College won the meet with 35 points. Thomas More College (52 points) edged Vincennes University by one point for second-place honors. Mount St. Joseph University rounded out the invitational field with a 145 team score.

Senior Evan Vernon recorded a 12th-place finish individually (28:34). Sophomore J.T. Sargent and freshman Claudio Gallegos each had top-25 finishes. Freshman Adam Rector rounded out the team standings with a 27th-place finish.

Freshman Chris Ott tallied a 37th-place finish, while freshmen Sean Groves and Alex Creamer had top-42 performances in the team's first invitational meet of the 2016 season.

Franklin returns to action on Friday, September 9 at 5:45 p.m. when it travels to the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational.
