BOSTON, Mass. – Franklin College senior thrower Nathan Adams put the finishing touches on an outstanding career on Friday (Mar. 8) night, when he took part in the weight throw at the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Entering the event as the 18th-seed overall, Adams show improvement from one throw to the next, finishing the event in 16th place overall. Following throws of 16.63 meters and 17.57 meters, Adams closed out the event with his best throw of the evening and the second-best throw in program history with a heave of 18.04 meters.
It was just the second time in school history a Grizzly has surpassed 18 meters in the event, the other coming courtesy of Adams earlier this year with the throw that earned him national qualifying status. In his final indoor season, Adams surpassed the 17-meter mark in the weight throw in every competition, and he retires as the school's record holder in the indoor weight throw, the outdoor hammer throw, and he sits in third place on the list of best indoor shot put throws.
