FRANKLIN, Ind. – Thanks to a strong indoor season in the throw pits, Franklin College senior Nathan Adams will have the opportunity to compete against the top throwers in the nation after qualifying for the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships.
The Indianapolis, Ind.-native was one of three Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) student-athletes to qualify for the national championships and will enter as the 18th-ranked competitor in the weight throw on Friday (Mar. 8) night.
Adams punched his ticket to his first national championship back on Jan. 12, when he hit qualifying status with a throw of 18.29 meters at the Robert H. Johnson Little Giant Open, hosted by Wabash College. That mark was not only good enough to win the event, but it smashed his own school record in the event by more than two meters.
The weight throw will take place on Friday night, starting at 6:45 p.m. The two-day event is set to take place at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Athletic Center in Boston, Mass.
