GREENWOOD, Ind. – A total of 10 Franklin College student-athletes have been named to their respective 'Athletes to Watch' list by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) as the league released its outdoor track & field pre-season coach's polls on Wednesday (Mar. 14) morning.
The Franklin men saw seniors Nathan Adams and Nick Uhl, as well as sophomores Clayton Brumfield, Reed Sauter and Matt Stienke crack the league-wide list. Brumfield and Stienke are coming off First Team All-HCAC indoor seasons that saw Brumfield repeat as the mile champion and Stienke claim the 60 meter hurdle title.
Adams set a new program record in the weight throw at the conference meet on his way to a third place finish. Sauter also turned in a strong showing at the indoor championships, taking third place in the 800 meter run.
For the Franklin women, senior Rachel Bowden, junior Kelsey Bowling, sophomore Sarah Miller and freshmen Morgan Clarke and Grace Esterline were identified on the league-wide list. Bowling, Miller and Clarke were the top point-producers for the Franklin women during the indoor season, competing in several different events on the track and in the field. Meanwhile, both Bowden and Esterline are back as the Grizzlies' top distance runners.
The Franklin men earned 38 points in the pre-season poll while the women collected 17 points from the league's coaches.
