FRANKLIN, Ind. – For the first time this fall, the Franklin College men's tennis team took to the courts for competition when they welcomed Indiana South Bend to the Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex.
The Grizzlies (0-1) battled the Titans (1-0) tough all afternoon, but the visitors were able to leave town with a 6-3 win.
In doubles play, Franklin got on the board thanks to the tandem of Ty McCory and Josh Stewart, who continued a successful partnership from last spring with an 8-4 win at the No. 2 doubles position. But the Titans headed into singles play with the lead, taking the other two doubles matches.
Stewart collected his second point of the day in singles play, rolling to a 6-1, 6-1 win from the fourth singles position. Jacob Zachary was also victorious in singles play, battling back from down a set to earn a 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 win from the No. 2 position.
