INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Three members of the Franklin men's tennis team picked up all-conference accolades on Tuesday (May 7) afternoon, when the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) released its annual league awards.
Amonett moved into the top spot in the Franklin lineup this past year, going 9-8 in singles play from the No. 1 position while playing with a slew of players from the top doubles spot. In league play, the Indianapolis, Ind.-native went 4-4 against the top players in the HCAC, and he teamed with Alexander Pollard to form his most successful doubles tandem. Amonett becomes a two-time all-conference player, capturing Second Team All-HCAC honors in 2017-18.
Zachary added his second all-conference honor on Tuesday afternoon after being named Second Team All-HCAC as a freshman. The sophomore and Franklin-native went 7-10 overall in singles play, primarily from the No. 2 spot in the lineup. In doubles competition, he matched his 7-10 record while playing at all three tandem positions. His most successful pairing came opposite Zach Lester, as the duo went a combined 6-5 on the year, racking up a 5-3 mark from the No. 2 doubles spot.
Stewart earned his first career all-conference award and was the Grizzlies' representative on the Christopher M. Ragsdale All-Sportsmanship Team. The Greencastle, Ind.-native racked up a 9-7 singles record, playing mainly from the No. 5 position where he picked up five singles wins. In doubles play, Stewart went 5-9 overall, going 5-6 from the No. 3 doubles spot while playing with four different partners throughout the year.
