RECAP | Grizzlies Drop Two Duals in Illinois on Saturday

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Franklin men's tennis team was back on the court on Saturday (Mar. 3) afternoon, heading to the Land of Lincoln to take on Greenville University and Illinois College.

The Grizzlies were unable to come away with their first win of the spring, falling to Greenville 9-0 in the morning before dropping a 6-3 decision to Illinois College in the afternoon.

After dropping each match of the opener against Greenville, the Grizzlies picked up their first point of the day when the top doubles team of Alex Hammer and Blake Amonett earned a 9-7 win. Down by a point after doubles play, Amonett pulled the Grizzlies even with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 2 doubles spot.

Sam Godby picked up the Grizzlies final point of their match with Illinois College with a 6-2, 6-3 win from the four-spot. But that was all the luck the Grizzlies would have as Illinois College was able to take the four remaining singles competitions to close out the match.

Franklin will have to wait a week before they aim for their first win of the spring. The Grizzlies will hit the road again next Saturday (Mar. 10) to take on Principia. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
