FRANKLIN, Ind. – The non-conference scheduled continued for the Franklin men's soccer team on Friday night with a home match against the Wilmington Quakers.
The Grizzlies (2-7) fell victim to an offensive wave from the guest Quakers (7-1), conceding three goals in the opening 20 minutes before righting the ship defensively the rest of the half.
Wilmington's quick strikes came in the 12th, 16th and 18th minutes, respectively on loose balls in the Franklin box. But the rest of half saw sophomore goalkeeper Jake Hendricks stop the other four Wilmington shots, keeping the deficit at three heading into the break.
The second half saw Wilmington keep their foot on the gas, closing out an 11-0 for the visitors. Elliott Clark took over in goal in the second half and made five stops for Franklin.
The Grizzlies head back out on the road on Sunday (Sept. 22), traveling to Jacksonville, Ill. to take on the MacMurray Highlanders. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
