LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Franklin College men's soccer team continued their four-game road swing on Wednesday night, taking on conference leading Transylvania University.

The Grizzlies ran into a buzz saw under the lights at Pat Deacon Stadium, as the Pioneers scored four times in the opening 30 minutes on their way to a 5-0 win.

Transylvania scored just 2:55 into the game on a Riley Calhoon goal, and the hosts added to their lead just three minutes later. Franklin nearly cut the lead in half in the 11th minute, but Jordan Thomas' header attempt was turned aside by Drew Grisham to keep the Grizzlies scoreless.

It was all Pioneers the rest of the way, as the hosts added goals in the 18th, 30th and 55th minutes to pad their lead. Franklin played the bulk of the game in their own end, as the final shot totals were 33-8 in favor of the Pioneers.

Garrett Belden stopped seven shots in goal for the Grizzlies while Grisham stopped a pair of shots at the other end.

The regular season rolls on this coming Saturday, when the Grizzlies wrap up their road trip against the Earlham Quakers. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
