Men’s Soccer Loses Home Finale in Double Overtime

Franklin, Ind. - Earlham College scored the game-winning goal with 1:54 remaining in the second overtime period to defeat the Franklin College men's soccer team 3-2 on Saturday night from Faught Stadium.

The Grizzlies forced the extra period with a goal in the 88th minute by freshman Conrad Bomber. Sophomore Sam Stallsmith sent a cross from the left side toward the 18-yard box. Bomber finished the scoring chance to square the match at 2-2.

Franklin appeared to have won the match in the first overtime period after finding the back of the net off a corner kick. However, the goal was disallowed due a foul occurring on the play.

Earlham struck first in the contest on a goal in the 24th minute. Sophomore Blaine Fuhs tallied his second goal of the season after a long pass from junior Austin Storm in the 29th minute.

The visitors took a 2-1 lead in the 72nd minute before Franklin's late push to force overtime.

Franklin held a slight 17-16 shot advantage in the contest, led by Fuhs attempting four shots. Freshman Mason May added three shots for the Grizzlies.

Franklin returns to action on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m. when it travels to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.
