Men’s Soccer Wins Streak Ends at Three Matches

Franklin, Ind. - Transylvania University scored the only goal in the match in the 77th minute to end the Franklin College men's soccer team's winning streak at three matches in a 1-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday evening from Faught Stadium.

Transylvania (9-2-3, 4-1-1 HCAC) found the back of the net after Jason Murillo sent a cross from the right side to Freddie Siegelman.

Franklin (3-7-4, 3-2-1 HCAC) held a 6-2 shot advantage in the first half and attempted six of the eight corner kicks in the match. The Grizzlies were unsuccessful during a first half penalty kick. Overall, Franklin had a 9-8 shot edge, including a 6-3 margin in shots on goal.

The first half also featured a 40-minute lightning delay.

Senior Antonio Gioe and freshman Conrad Bomber each attempted two shots to lead the Grizzlies.

Franklin remains tied with Mount St. Joseph University for fourth place in the HCAC with 10 points. Transylvania moves into third place with 13 points and Defiance College stands in fifth place with eight points. The Grizzlies defeated MSJ 2-0 on October 15.

Franklin returns to action on Saturday, October 22 at 8 p.m. when it concludes its four-match home stand against Earlham College from Faught Stadium.
