Men’s Soccer Loses Home Opener to Unbeaten DePauw

Franklin, Ind. - DePauw University scored twice in each half to remain unbeaten on the season in defeating the Franklin College men's soccer team during its 2016 home opener on Wednesday at Faught Stadium.

DePauw (3-0-2) scored the first goal of the match in the 14th minute on a goal from Justin Mitchell. The visitors took a 2-0 lead in the 20th minute on a tally from Julian Gonzalez. Gonzalez successfully converted a penalty kick six minutes into the second half. DePauw scored its final goal of the match in the 73rd minute.

Six different Franklin players attempted one shot in the match. Junior Austin Storm sent a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box over the crossbar in the 42nd minute. Junior Cam Mattern sent a free kick onto goal during the second half.

Franklin returns to action on Sunday, September 18 at 3:30 p.m. when it hosts Spalding University during Daniel Schuetz Community Day at Faught Stadium.
