Men’s Soccer Season Ends with Late Goal Loss at Earlham

Richmond, Ind. - Earlham College scored with 10 minutes remaining to defeat the Franklin College men's soccer team 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. The loss ended the Grizzlies' 2015 season with a 7-9-2 mark overall and 4-4-1 record inside Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Earlham's Nicholas Dey found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Jacob Ebbs in the 81st minute.

Franklin attempted to square the match with a shot by senior Austin Fundenberger (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) just 11 seconds after the goal was scored.

Sophomore Mason Krupa (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) took a shot that was wide of the goal in the 88th minute off a corner kick from Fundenberger.

The two teams battled for control of the match with Franklin attempting the only two shots over the first 45 minutes. The Quakers finished the contest with a slight 8-7 advantage in shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Fundenberger recorded a match-high four shots, while Krupa attempted two shots. Sophomore Cole Reichard (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) rounded out the offensive attack with one shot.

Saturday's match concluded the careers of seniors Ian Mullen (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg), Bryce Wellin (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central), Cody Chapman (Vincennes, Ind./Washington), Thaddeus Broderick (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central), Frank Davis (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield), Zach Shoufler (Fortville, Ind./Greenfield-Central), and Fundenberger.
