Men’s Soccer Ready to Begin HCAC Slate at MSJ on Friday Evening

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's soccer team seeks to open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play on a positive note when it travels to Mount St. Joseph University on Friday, October 2, at 8 p.m. from Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Grizzlies stand 3-5-1 on the season and are coming off a 2-2 draw to Concordia University Chicago at home last Sunday. The team will be seeking its first road win of the season after losses at DePauw University (September 9) and the University of Mount Union (September 20).

Eight different players have scored a goal for Franklin this season.

Freshman Blaine Fuhs (Washington, Ind./Washington Catholic) leads the team with three goals, while sophomore Cam Mattern (Pittsboro, Ind./Brownsburg) has added two goals this season.

Senior Austin Fundenberger (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and freshman Sam Stallsmith (Cicero, Ind./Hamilton Heights) are tied for team-high honors with each having three assists.

Senior goalkeeper Cody Chapman (Vincennes, Ind./Washington) has made 37 saves, posted one shutout, and won three matches this fall. Sophomore Garrett Belden (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) has tallied six saves in goal, and has an .857 save percentage in 2015.
