Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College men's soccer team remained atop the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) standings with a 0-0 draw against Defiance College on Saturday evening from Faught Stadium.
Franklin (5-4-2, 2-0-1 HCAC) is tied with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for first place in the standings. The two teams battle on Wednesday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m. from Faught Stadium.
The Grizzlies are 3-1-1 over their last five matches.
The hosts led an 11-8 shot advantage in the match, including a 6-3 edge in the second half. Each team had one shot during the second 10-minute overtime period.
Franklin's best scoring chance came late in the first half when senior Brandon Iaria (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) hit the crossbar with a shot with less than a minute remaining in the period.
Junior goalkeeper Cody Chapman (Vincennes, Ind./Washington) made six saves to record his fifth shutout of the season.
Iaria led Franklin's 11-shot attack with four shots. Junior Austin Fundenberger (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) attempted three shots. Classmate Thaddeus Broderick (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) had two shots in the match.
