Men’s Soccer Hosting Daniel Schuetz Community Classic This Weekend

Franklin, Ind. - Fresh off its first victory over a nationally ranked opponent, the Franklin College men's soccer team gets back on the Faught Stadium turf this weekend for the the Daniel Schuetz Community Classic.

The Grizzlies begin the event against the University of Mount Union on Saturday, September 6 at 6 p.m. The team then battles Trine University on Sunday, September 7 at 4 p.m. Transylvania University, a fellow Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference member college, rounds out the four-team tournament field.

Franklin is coming off a 1-0 home field victory over No. 23-ranked DePauw University on Wednesday. Sophomore Antonio Gioe (Martinsville, Ind./Mooresville) scored the game winner in the 60th minute. The scoring chance was set up by junior Austin Fundenberger (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) during an odd-man rush.

Junior goalkeeper Cody Chapman (Vincennes, Ind./Washington) made seven saves in recording his first collegiate shutout.
