LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Franklin men's golf team hit the course for day two of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships on Sunday (Apr. 28) afternoon and the final round at the University Club of Kentucky.
The Grizzlies moved up one spot as a team, climbing up to fourth place overall and takes a team score of 635 (314-321) into the final two rounds. Leading the way for the Grizzlies in round two was junior Jackson Williams, who sits in a tie for 11th place after 36 holes with a 154 (78-76). Day one's low scorer, senior Jacob Hash, sits in 14th place after the weekend, firing a 157 (76-81).
Sophomore RJ Turner is one shot back of Hash in a tie for 15th place with a 158 (77-81). Freshman Alan Showalter (85-83) and junior Aubrey Seaman (83-85) rounded out the Grizzly five with dueling 168s, and sit tied for 24th place heading into round three.
Transylvania heads into the second weekend with a commanding 28-shot lead over second place Earlham. The Pioneers' Blake Young sits atop the leaderboard with an even par 144.
The scene shifts to rounds three and four, which take place next Saturday and Sunday (May 3-4) at Anderson Country Club in Anderson, Ind. Updated information can be found at the championship page.
