RECAP | Jackson Williams Brings Home Third Career Medalist Honors at Day Quayle Classic

CLAYTON, Ind. – Junior Jackson Williams became a three-time medalist winner on Sunday (Sept. 30) afternoon, taking the top spot at the DePauw University Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic, held at Deer Creek Golf Course.

The Greenwood, Ind.-native won the event by two shots with a three-under 141 (71-70), jumping three other players to take his first individual title of the year and the first medalist since Oct. 8, 2017 when he was a winner at the Mount St. Joseph Stateline Shootout. Additionally, it was the lowest two-round tournament score of his playing career, giving the Grizzlies medalist winners in back-to-back events.

The Grizzlies finished fourth overall with a two-round score of 600 (303-297), 18 shots back of tournament winner Webster University.

Franklin had two players finish tied for 17th overall with 152s in sophomore RJ Turner and Brock Tennyson. Indianapolis, Ind.-native Turner went 76-76 while Howell, Mich.-native Tennyson went 75-77 on the weekend. Last week's medalist winner, freshman Alan Showalter, earned a share of 35th with a 155 (81-74) while senior Jacob Hash's 162 (82-80) rounded out the FC top-five.

Six other Grizzlies joined in on the fun over the weekend, with five making up the FC 'B' team and one playing as an individual. Aubrey Seaman topped the Grizzlies' second five, finishing in a tie for 24th place with a 153 (78-75). Kade Edwards shot a 163 (82-81) to finish 53rd, Hagen Proulx fired a 171 (86-85) to finish 65th, Colin Phelps finished tied for 66th with a 174 (95-79) and Evan Graham placed 70th with a 179 (89-90). Lucas Thornton competed as an individual, finishing 59th overall with a 166 (89-77).

The Grizzlies wrap up the fall season next weekend, when they head to Indian Ridge Golf Course in Oxford, Ohio for the Stateline Shootout.
