RECAP | Day Two Surge Leads to Grizzlies' First Event Championship of the Year

PERRY PARK, Ky. – Playing their second tournament of the spring season, the Franklin College men's golf team is bringing some hardware home for the first time this year after winning the Thomas More Saints Spring Invitational at Perry Park Golf Resort.

Tied with the host Saints after one day of play, the Grizzlies cut six shots off of their score on Sunday afternoon to record a three-shot win over Thomas More with a 616 (311-305).

A trio of Grizzlies cracked the top-10 on the leaderboard. Freshman Robert Turner earned a share of sixth place overall, carding consecutive 76s to finish with a six-over 152. Two shots back of Turner was junior Jacob Hash, whose 154 (78-76) was good for eighth overall. Senior Spencer Portish improved by three shots on day two on his way to a share of ninth place with a 155 (79-76).

Sophomore Jackson Williams finished just outside the top-10, earning a share of 12th place with a 158 (78-80). Sophomore Aubrey Seaman was the Grizzlies' biggest mover on day two, improving by sever shots on the course and nine places in the standings to earn a share of 16th place with a 162 (85-77). Playing as an individual, Hunter Whitaker tied for 23rd place with a 167 (84-83).

Franklin will have a few weeks off before heading to Seymour, Ind. on Apr. 7-8 for the Hanover Invitational at Shadowood Golf Club.
