Men's Basketball Names Team Award Winners at Program's Annual Year-End Banquet

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College men's basketball team put the finishing touches on their 2018-19 season last week, recognizing the team's award winners at their end-of-the-year banquet.

Junior Kale Morris was the Grizzlies' recipient of the Sam Alford Free Throw Award and the R. Gene Wirey Goaltenders Clutch Award. The Second Team All-HCAC honoree knocked down 98.4 percent (60-for-61) of his free throws while averaging 13.6 points per game on 45.4 percent shooting and 43 percent shooting from long range

Just edging out Morris for the team's Three-Point Field Goal Percentage award was freshman Matt Krause, whose 44.1 percent accuracy from long range was good for second overall in the conference. Krause was also the winner of the Rebounding Award, leading the HCAC with 7.3 boards per contest.

Sophomore Sam Gutierrez earned the Assists Award for the second straight year, handing out 104 helpers on the year. The Tipton, Ind.-native ranked fifth in the conference with 3.9 assists dished out per game. Sophomore Payton Mills won the team's Field Goal Percentage Award after ranking second in the conference among qualified players after shooting 68.5 percent from the field.

Junior Borden Kennedy was the recipient of the Robert M. Branigin Memorial Award for Mental Attitude while freshman Isaac Combs earned the Thomas R. Hodge Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award.
