Men’s Basketball Drops Hard-Fought Game To Thomas More

FRANKLIN, Ind. (December 31, 2016)- The Franklin College men's basketball team finished its non-conference schedule with a 97-93 hard-fought loss against visiting Thomas More College.

Despite the loss, the Grizzlies saw four players post double-digit scoring efforts. Junior forward John Beineke led the team with 21 points. Beineke, one of the HCAC leaders in shooting percentage, was 9 for 12 from the field. Senior guard Aaron Mann scored 19 points and brought down seven rebounds. Seniors Robbie Prather and Brett McCory added 17 points each, with McCory hauling in eight rebounds.

Thomas More, which trailed by 10 points at halftime, erupted for 61 points in the second half. The Saints were led by Damion King, who led the team in all major categories. King scored 27 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists. The Saints also received 24-point efforts from Ryne Callahan and Simon Clifford. Callahan made five 3-point baskets.

With 2016 in the books, the Grizzlies will turn their attention to 2017 and the heart of their HCAC schedule. They will resume HCAC play on Jan. 4 when they travel to Manchester University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from the North Manchester, Ind.
