Grizzlies Edged by Centre in Single Digit Loss on the Road

DANVILLE, KY. (November 30, 2016) – Franklin College men's basketball suffered their second straight loss to non-conference matchup Centre College 78-84 on Wednesday night.

The Grizzlies fell just short after fighting from behind for the majority of the game. Senior Aaron Mann (Indianapolis, Ind. / Howe) led for Franklin with a game high of 18 points and tallied 8 rebounds. Three other Grizzlies also finished in double figures on the night. Senior Robbie Prather (Franklin, Ind. / Roncalli) shot 50% from the field and ended the game with 17 points. Junior John Beineke (Indianapolis, Ind. / Perry Meridian) also chipped in 13 points for the Grizzlies, while sophomore Blake Oakley (Kokomo, Ind. / Northwestern) recorded 10 points and 5 assists.

Centre College finished with balanced scoring efforts having five players end the night in double figures. Leading the way for the Colonels was Tucker Sine with 17 points, followed by Jacob Bates with 14. Art Walker (13), Sam Gruber (12), and Jarod Griffin (11) also contributed offensively for Centre. The Colonels shot an impressive 57.4% from the field as a team and 50% from behind the arc.

Franklin College is back on the road again this Saturday, Dec. 3 for their first conference game against Defiance College set for 4:00 pm.
